For 25 years, I danced in go-go clubs and belly dance competitions. I was often rejected for being too much, too wild, or too authentic, but I kept choosing myself.
After I stopped performing, I put my creativity into visual art, music, and animal death doula work. I started the Alion Institute to teach sovereignty through animal consciousness.
All those years of rejection taught me something simple: you don’t need anyone’s approval to be yourself. You just have to keep creating.
Today, I’m still making art, choosing to be authentic, and still not fitting in.
